Book Month at Goggins Hill
12th Nov 2020
Now that the dark evenings are here and after school sporting activities have finished up, why not take time to read a good book?
This is the advice of the children on the Students' Council who are leading the way in promoting recreational reading during the month of November.
They have come up with a number of great ideas to do just this.
- Donate a Book – Have you a good book you would like to donate to the library for others to enjoy? Méabh Bilson in 6th class has made a lovely poster promoting this. You'll see this attached.
- Dress Up Day – On Friday, November 20th you are invited to dress up as a character from a book so start thinking! Well done to Evie Twohig in 5th class for telling us about this in her poster attached below.
- Zoom workshops with authors are currently being arranged. If parents have contacts with authors, illustrators or book publishers, the Students' Council would love to organise a webinar with these and hear all about their work. Please email details to the Students' Council at info@gogginshillschool.com
- Digital story time – Now with teacher access to You Tube throughout the school, children can enjoy the simple pleasure of listening to a story.
- 'Design a Book Cover' competition and book reviews are just some of the many upcoming activities arranged.
Well done and thank you to the Students' Council and Ms Tyers for generating these exciting initiatives!
