The Queen's Visit to Cork

To celebrate the Queen's historic visit to Cork, some our classes held tea parties/afternoon tea.

Afterwards we kept a watchful eye on the skies to make sure we wouldn't miss her arrival by helicopter.

We are very fortunate that our position on the Mountain affords us a great few of the airport runway. As soon as our 'spotters' caught a glimpse of the Royal Helicopter approaching we all made our way to the yard to watch Her Majesty touch down in the Rebel County.
Once the excitement at the airport died down, we returned to the classroom to watch as the Queen and Prince Philip made their way through the English Market and afterwards greeted crowds gathered along the Grand Parade.

We were all delighted to be able to witness such an historic event.
