Orienteering

This month in school we are doing Orienteering for PE. We started off with a very basic map and had to follow the directions to find a simple route between cones on the yard. Next, we progressed to a map of the school grounds. We had to figure out the legend/key to the map, to see what all the colours represented. Once we did that, we marked numbers on our maps and then we went off to find the controls (clues). We had great fun and really enjoyed our orienteering.

This is the map we used.

Hunting for controls.

Some of the controls we found.

we also did a scavenger hunt in the school grouns. We had to find things beginning with letters of the alphabet and take pictures of them.
Back in our classroom we looked at each others pictures and marked the positions on our maps.

These are some of the phots we took. Can you guess what letters they were for?
