The children and staff of Goggins Hill National School to the people of Ireland

Irishmen, Irishwomen and Irish children. We, the students and staff of Goggins Hill National School, wish, on this the centenary of the 1916 Rising, to honour and remember those who gave their lives for Irish freedom. Without their sacrifice, we would not have the independent, peaceful republic, which exists today.

In this document, we proclaim our dreams and hopes for the future of Ireland.

We would like the children of Ireland to grow up in a safe and secure community and believe that all citizens are entitled to a home, healthcare and education, up to and including third level education. These we consider to be basic rights. All Irish citizens should benefit from the same opportunities, regardless of status or wealth.

We wish for all of our citizens to be treated equally and not to be discriminated against. The people of Ireland should be given respect and the freedom to participate in religious ceremonies according to their faith, while also respecting the faith of others.

Technology should be used for the benefit of all of our citizens.

The lives of our citizens must be protected. Care must also be given to our natural world.

We hope to develop a clean environment in our country. It is our duty to protect the environment for future generations.

Those from other countries, who are welcomed by the Irish nation, should be assisted in making a contribution to our country. We expect in return that they respect and obey our laws.

We believe in the protection of the most vulnerable members of our society and recognise the valuable contribution which is made by those citizens to our country.

We, as the citizens of the Republic of Ireland, are committed to making a positive contribution to the world community and providing an example to other nations, of which our ancestors would be proud.

Ceartas, Neamhspleáchas agus Síocháin anois, agus go deo.

Safety Contingency plans  for Goggins Hill N.S.

Parents and staff, please use your own discretion and common sense before making the decision to travel to school as conditions vary from area to area. Better to arrive late but safely. CIE buses will only run if the driver deems the road conditions to be safe. Please make interim arrangements for drop off and collection of pupils.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
